Cerveteri, Rome and Tarquinia. Study seminar in memory of Mauro Cristofani and Mario Torelli.

Fondazione Luigi Rovati is participating in the international conference entitled "Cerveteri, Rome and Tarquinia. Seminar of studies in memory of Mauro Cristofani and Mario Torelli," which will be hosted on Jan. 25 in Rome at the CNR headquarters and on Jan. 26 and 27, respectively, at the Granarone in Cerveteri and at the Vincenzo Cardarelli Library in Tarquinia.

The event is organized by the Cerveteri and Tarquinia Archaeological Park and The Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences of the CNR, under the patronage of the National Institute of Etruscan and Italic Studies and the ABAP Superintendency for the Province of Viterbo and Southern Etruria, and with the support of the Cerveteri and Tarquinia municipal administrations, the Fondazione Luigi Rovati and the Tarquiniense Society of Art and History.

The Study Days intend to re-examine the cross-relationships between the three cities, between the Orientalizing and the Republican age, in order to bring out the lines of development and possible junctures that characterized their political, economic and social history. The topic will be addressed, in a multidisciplinary manner, by Italian and foreign scholars.

The organizers wanted to dedicate the event to two great scholars: Mauro Cristofani, whose 25th death anniversary falls, and Mario Torelli, who recently passed away; both have linked their names-among many themes-to the history and archaeology of Cerveteri and Tarquinia.

Institutional greetings will be given by Maria Chiara Carrozza - President of the National Research Council, Costanza Miliani - Director CNR - Institute of Sciences of Cultural Heritage, Luigi La Rocca - Director General of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape - MiC, Elena Gubetti - Mayor of Cerveteri Federica Battafarano - Councillor for Cultural and Sports Policies Municipality of Cerveteri.
