The myth of Meleager in a journey through ancient texts and art

Guided Visit

The guided tour begins with the observation of the Meleager sarcophagus and a reinterpretation of the myth through the voices of ancient authors, from Homer to Ovid, who recount different versions of the story.

The itinerary explores the theme of myth as a constantly evolving narrative, capable of expressing itself through words and images, focusing in particular on the representation of grief and the power of the gesture carved on the sarcophagus, placing it in dialogue with other artworks and visual languages up to modern representations of war, such as those by Pablo Picasso.
