From spectacular party rallies in Nuremberg to architectural works designed to achieve immortality, from hatred of modernism to Hitler as the 'guardian of Western civilisation': a reflection on the role of culture in the vision of an Aryan superstate, where it is used as a means to conquer and retain power.
Understanding the power of 20th-century aesthetics also becomes a tool for analysing the long shadow cast by the artistic and architectural positions of totalitarianism and their effects on the contemporary world.
The event is free of charge, but booking is recommended. The ticket for the conference does not include admission to the Art Museum. A video of the event will be published on Fondazione's YouTube channel.
