Findings from the San Francesco hoard, Bologna

In 1878 a large terracotta vase was found in Bologna, containing almost 15,000 fragments of metal. It has been interpreted as a reservoir of scrap metal meant to be recycled by being fused.

This key discovery allows us to better understand the everyday life tools used by the Etruscans in Felsina, the ancient Bologna.
