Contemporary collection

The exhibition displays ancient artefacts alongside contemporary works of art by Italian and international artists such as Lucio Fontana, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Gino De Dominicis.

On the Piano Nobile, the dialogue between ancient and contemporary art unfolds in the rooms, some of which have housed important site-specific works commissioned by Fondazione Luigi Rovati from contemporary Italian and international artists such as Giulio Paolini, Francesco Simeti, Marianna Kennedy and Luigi Ontani since the museum opened.

In the blue room, Andy Warhol's work The Etruscan scene: female ritual dance, accompanied by his preparatory drawings, testifies to the artist's ability to interpret and rework the ancient, inspired by the Tomb of the Lionesses in Tarquinia.

In September 2025, a new permanent installation by Diego Cibelli, Una vita all'aria aperta (A Life in the Open Air), was inaugurated, bringing the entrance hall, the Piano Nobile atrium and the interior façade of the building to life.
