Luigi Rovati Foundation: the construction site and the process
Through a timeline, the various construction phases of the redevelopment of the building that now houses the Foundation’s headquarters were clearly illustrated.
The building, originally erected in 1871 at the will of the Prince of Piombino, was built on the site where a small daytime theatre from 1810 once stood, which had been demolished to make way for the new structure. The timeline guided visitors along a chronological path documenting the architectural and structural interventions that took place over time, culminating in the recent restoration and enhancement project that transformed the building into a dynamic hub dedicated to culture and innovation.
In parallel, the exhibition route presented the conceptual process that led to the establishment of the Foundation itself. At the heart of this narrative was the Manifesto, a founding document that encapsulated its guiding principles, shared values, and cultural and social aims. The Manifesto was not merely a declaration of intent, but a true ethical and design framework that continues to shape the Foundation’s activities and define its identity.
This dual narrative – both historical and conceptual – made it possible to convey the material and intellectual contexts in which the Foundation is rooted.
