The Olympic Games: stories and images of gods, heroes, and athletes

Guided tour with workshop dedicated to the temporary exhibition
Target audience: lower and upper secondary schools

The program, linked to the temporary exhibition, retraces the history of the Olympics from ancient Greece to Etruria, including the exceptional visit to the Tomb of the Olympics in Tarquinia.

The visit is enriched by the reading of texts by classical authors, including Homer, Sophocles, Virgil, Tacitus, Pausanias, and Juvenal, as well as inscriptions of athletes and gladiators.

Two workshops are offered:

  • Workshop 1: Reading, commentary, and discussion of selected texts in front of the artworks.

  • Workshop 2: Creation of a haiku or design of a new Olympic logo, inspired by the contents learned during the visit or from the reading of classical texts.
