In the Sign of the Etruscans: A Dialogue Between Milan and Orvieto

memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Fondazione Luigi Rovati, based in Milan, and the Fondazione per il Museo “Claudio Faina”, based in Orvieto, with the aim of developing forms of collaborationbetween the two institutions which, although operating in different contexts, share the same commitment to researchand the enhancement of Etruscan heritage.

The agreement stems from the awareness that the study of Antiquity cannot be limited to conservation or mere display, but requires new modes of narration and interpretation. In this sense, the collaboration takes shape as a space for cultural and scientific exchange, capable of bringing together collections, expertise, and projects.

At its core lies the idea of restoring the complexity of a civilization that has long continued—and still continues—to exert a strong influence on the artistic imagination, well beyond the chronological boundaries of antiquity. Not only archaeology, therefore, but also a reflection on the legacy of the Etruscans in modern and contemporary art, in a dialogue that spans centuries and opens up new interpretative perspectives.

Projects to be developed in the coming months and years will range from exhibitions to editorial programs, as well as conferences and research activities. Particular attention will be devoted to initiatives capable of intertwining historical narrative and critical interpretation, offering the public tools to understand the cultural significance of early Italy.

Milan and Orvieto will thus become complementary hubs of a shared program, with initiatives alternating between the two locations and opening up to a dialogue of national and international scope.

The agreement was strongly supported and signed by Giovanna Forlanelli, President of the Fondazione Luigi Rovati, and Andrea Solini Colalè, President of the Fondazione per il Museo “Claudio Faina”**.

The scientific coordination of the collaboration is entrusted to Giuseppe M. Della Fina and Giulio Paolucci, who will guide its content and research directions.
